The First Thing To Go Is The Plan!

ACL reconstruction has been a complex experience, I am sure Tiger hasn't had my problems! Nevertheless I am learning a lot about myself by being in one place and the Canine Course is an eye-opener, I think all dog people would benefit from a little formal knowledge. Winter 2010 is still a goer, despite complications, I am more determined than ever and only think pain and suffering adds to my understanding of 'life as a musher'! I am keeping my hand in with trips to the Cairngorm Sleddog Centre to visit friends like Pandora here (who is from Swingley lines) and volunteering at my rescue home. The behaviour course coupled with the practical application at the shelter is truly humbling, I am able to forge a greater understanding and connection because of this greater knowledge and one thing we hear often is that you never stop learning! Happy trails people, Jody.

Iditarod 2008

Iditarod 2008 was an experience I will never forget, I am not sure what I expected of the race, preparations and Nome but it was amazing. The sense of community is quite something, and Nome is the most surreal of places. However I make no bones about the amount of hard work that goes into getting there. Considering a huge proportion of the sport is 'grass roots' it is very apparent we do it for love and not money! Matt Calore came in 55th after travelling 550 miles with only 8 dogs.

Matt took this amazing image and some video whilst on the trail.

Just another day at the Cairngorm Sleddog Centre, Alan & Fiona Stewart sharing their passion with visitors.

Serious Sleddog

❄ This is Aladin, member of the Cairngorm Sleddog Centre Kennels. He is one of the most memorable dogs I have worked with over the last few years. As a leader he likes to let you know who's 'house' you are in but I have never met a sleddog more serious about his job. I come to think of all the dogs I work with as my own and nothing becomes as important as the dogs that are placed in my care. Even when I move on I think of them often, just like Aladin.
