After a third op on my left knee I am looking forward to the future and getting back in the game winter 2010/2011, for those of you who have never had injury problems no amount of words can explain the frustration...for those of you who have, no words are needed!
Onwards and Upwards :-)
The First Thing To Go Is The Plan!
ACL reconstruction has been a complex experience, I am sure Tiger hasn't had my problems! Nevertheless the canine course is great and occupies my time, I think all dog people can benefit from a little formal knowledge. Winter 2010 is still a goer, despite complications, I am more determined than ever and only think pain and suffering adds to my understanding of 'life as a musher'! I am keeping my hand in with trips to the Cairngorm Sleddog Centre to visit friends like Pandora here and volunteering at my rescue home. Happy trails people, Jody.
Iditarod 2008
Iditarod 2008 was an experience I will never forget, I am not sure what I expected of the race, preparations and Nome but it was amazing. The sense of community is quite something, and Nome is the most surreal of places. However I make no bones about the amount of hard work that goes into getting there. Considering a huge proportion of the sport is 'grass roots' it is very apparent we do it for love and not money! Matt Calore came in 55th after travelling 550 miles with only 8 dogs.
Matt took this image and some video whilst on the trail.

Just another day at the Cairngorm Sleddog Centre, Alan & Fiona Stewart sharing their passion with visitors.
Serious Sleddog

This is Aladin, member of the Cairngorm Sleddog Centre Kennels. He was one of the most memorable dogs I have ever worked with. As a leader he liked to let you know who's 'house' you were in but I never met a sleddog more serious about his job or more desperate to run. I come to think of all the dogs I work with as my own and nothing becomes as important as the dogs that are placed in my care. Even when I move on I think of them often, just like Aladin. Although no longer with us, he still occupies my thoughts and I hope that he has found that 'perfect trail in the sky'.
